Organization: Katilingban Sang Mga Imosl Sang Iloilo (KAISOG)

Country: Philippines

Founded in 1984 by a group of community leaders and church people in the city of Iloilo engaged in the struggle for just and humane living conditions for all, KAISOG is an advocacy organisation that holds a seat on the city’s legislative council to represent the urban poor. The project will train 90 community leaders from 15 communities in communication skills for advocacy, networking and lobbying; enhance their ability to identify basic data needed to strengthen their arguments; and enable them to clearly and concisely present their points. This will make them more effective in uniting their communities and leading them to action, and they will be better able advance the agenda of the urban poor, and negotiate in dialogue with the public and private sectors.
