The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) is pleased to announce to its third Global Institute of Theology (GIT). The GIT will be held in Indonesia from 8 June to 1 July 12, 2012 in partnership with Duta Wacana Christian University, Yogyakarta, on the island of Java.

The purpose of GIT is to provide theological students and faculty from all over the world a unique opportunity to learn, teach, and practice theology in a multicultural and ecumenical perspective, relating the theological task to local, regional and world contexts.

The setting for the 2012 session of the GIT is ideal for this purpose. We will be meeting in a nation that has the world’s largest Muslim population, among whom Christians have lived in interreligious relations for generations. What a privilege it will be for students to learn from the perspective and experience of scholars who come to GIT from this context as well as from other contexts around the world!

WCRC is seeking female and male students--up to 50 from all continents--preparing for the Christian ministry at a theological seminary related to a WCRC member church. It will also consider qualified pastors in their first years of ministry. The language of the GIT is English so participants must be comfortable listening to, speaking and reading English.
Sixty percent of the students will come from the Global South and forty percent from the Global North. According to the student’s financial circumstances, he or she will pay the minimum tuition fee of CHF 50 or the maximum of CHF 1500 to help cover travel costs and accommodation.
